Dr. Jagdish Hiremath, President of the Cardiology Society of India (Pune Chapter) is a renowned interventional cardiologist who has been practicing in Pune for over 25 years. He currently serves as the Director – Cath Lab, Ruby Hall Clinic. In his previous capacity, he was the Director - Non-invasive Cardiology & Director- CCU at Ruby Hall Clinic and was also known for his role as Chief of Cardiology - Poona Hospital.

Dr. Hiremath is known to be an early adopter and pioneer in the field of Cardiology. This is underscored by the fact that he has the distinction of the being the first doctor in Pune, and among the first few in India, to perform coronary angioplasties. He has handled some of Maharashtra’s most complex cases and on numerous occasions been brought on as an expert and saviour to redo failed angioplasties.

Credited with transforming his expertise and seniority in the field of cardiology for public welfare, Dr. Hiremath enjoys remarkable popularity within and outside the medical fraternity. He is the driving force behind the immensely popular weekly radio show “Eka Shwaasache Antar”. To this day, he has delivered more than 3000 public lectures to packed audiences across the country on topics such as awareness and prevention of coronary artery disease, life style modification, treatments and investigative approaches of cardiology etc.

An avid sportsman, he has captained and represented both State and University in Basketball. Like every true Indian, he is very passionate about cricket. He has watched the finals of the last six World Cups live and had the opportunity of bidding adieu to Sachin Tendulkar at Wankhede. Having performed on stage with the likes of Amitabh Bacchan and Naseerudin Shah, literature and performing arts are close to his heart. The ‘Lets Act’ orchestra of doctors has risen to different heights by his intellectual anchoring.

Dr. Hiremath has completed his MD (Med) from Pune, DM (Cardiology) with a gold medal from Mumbai, DNB (Cardiology) of National board. He has received specialized training in coronary angioplasty from Melbourne, Australia and is a Fellow of American college of Cardiology (FACC).
